BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The Central Missouri Jennies (2-2, 0-0) split a double header in the final day of the Alvy Early Memorial Tournament falling to Harding (7-2, 0-0) 5-4 and defeating Henderson State (3-5, 0-0) by a final score of 11-10.
Central Missouri returns to the diamond on Saturday, Feb. 18, as they take on Ouachita Baptist in the opening day of the HSU / OBU Tournament in Arkadelphia, Ark; with first pitch of game one scheduled for noon from Sully Anderson Field.
Game 1: Harding 5, Central Missouri 4
UCM jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to an
Ashlyn Cook two-run homer, but the Bisons tied the game up with a run in the bottom half of the first and another in the second.
In the third and fourth innings Central Missouri collected a run, but Harding responded with a run in the third on a solo home run and the game clinching runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Andi Siebeneck suffers her first loss in the circle allowing six hits, four earned runs and two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Game 2: Central Missouri 11, Henderson State 10
In the final game of the Alvy Early Memorial Tournament, the Jens found themselves trailing 7-1 after a six run third inning for the Reddies. UCM responded with three runs in the fifth inning cutting the lead to 7-4, but Henderson State would plate another run in the next half inning.
In the top of the sixth, the Jens regained the lead with RBIs from
Abby Allnutt,
Laney Killpack and
Aubrie McRoberts, but Henderson State regained the lead once again. In the seventh, redshirt freshman
Lexi Blackmon drove in the tying run on an RBI single then scored one batter later as the Jens escape with an 11-10 victory.
Pitcher
Paige Petefish earns the win (her first since April of 2021) in relief allowing six hits, four earned runs while striking out eight in five innings.
