No. 15 Jennies Soccer Shuts Out No. 20 Minnesota State, 2-0, in NCAA-II Central Regional First Round

TOPEKA, Kan. – No. 15-ranked and five-seeded University of Central Missouri Jennies soccer netted a pair of second half goals to post a 2-0 shutout win over the No. 20-ranked and fourth-seeded Minnesota State Mavericks in the first round of the NCAA-II Central Regional Friday, Nov. 17, at Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl on the Washburn University campus.

The Jennies (16-4-2) will face the winner of the No. 1 seed Washburn and No. 8 seed Ouachita Baptist first round match in the second round Sunday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m. in Topeka.

After neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes, the Jennies broke through in the 64th minute when Andree Orcutt smashed home her second goal of the season, putting UCM up, 1-0.

Seventeen minutes later in the 81st minute, Lexie Ruf doubled the Central Missouri lead with her team-best eighth goal of the season.

For the match, the Jennies outshot the Mavericks (11-4-5), 9-4, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

UCM goalkeeper Maddie Meehan (1-0-0) earned the win and shutout between the posts after allowing no goals while making two saves in 90 minutes.

Maverick goalkeeper Mackenzie Rath (11-3-4) suffered the setback in goal, giving up two goals while making three saves in 90 minutes.
