Jennies Volleyball Sweeps Missouri Southern Tuesday in Warrensburg

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (10-5, 7-0) swept the Missouri Southern Lions (10-6, 3-4) by a final score of 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22) on Tuesday, Oct. 3, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.  
 
After claiming the first two sets of the match, the Jens began the third on a 10-2 run highlighted by three kills from freshman Elinor Engel (match-high 10 kills and three blocks overall), the reigning Co-MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week recorded a career-high .600 attack percentage on 15 swings helping them to their seventh consecutive win to begin conference play.
 
Sophomore Rachel Ziesman also contributed a match-high 10 kills (on 15 attempts for a .533 attack percentage) adding three blocks and a career-best two service aces, while setter Olivia Olson collected a match-high 36 assists, eight digs, and six kills for good measure. Redshirt senior Kersti Nix had eight kills and three blocks, plus outside hitters Sydney Lierz (eight digs and two assists) and Emma Siron (two blocks and two digs) recorded four kills each.
 
Defensively, the Jens outhit Missouri Southern by a margin of .327 to .142 in the match, including .462 to .036 in the second set highlighted by libero Grace Winkelmann's match-high 13 digs while redshirt senior Jackie Storm added eight digs.    
 
Central Missouri returns to the court on Thursday, Oct. 5, as they continue a three-match home stand against the Newman Jets with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
