WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (11-5, 8-0) swept the Newman Jets (0-14, 0-7) by a final score of 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 26-24) on Thursday, Oct. 5, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
After outscoring the Jets 50-24 through the first two sets of the match, Central Missouri found themselves tied at 23 in the third. Beginning with a kill from freshman
Elinor Engel (four kills overall) the Jens completed the sweep with a 4-1 run. UCM has won six matches in a row, and is off to the best start in MIAA play since 2013.
Outside hitter
Kersti Nix led the Jens offensively with a team-high eight kills on 14 swings (.571 attack percentage) adding two digs, while freshman
Emma Siron contributed seven kills respectively. Middle blocker
Rachel Ziesman had six kills, a team-high four blocks and four digs, plus, setter
Olivia Olson collected a match-high 26 assists, six digs, four kills and three service aces in the winning effort.
Defensively, Central Missouri outhit the Jets by a margin of .206 to .094 overall highlighted by libero
Grace Winkelmann's team-high 12 digs, while junior
Arley Anderson collected eight digs and outside hitter
Sydney Lierz had five digs for good measure.
Central Missouri returns to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 10, as they conclude a three-match home stand against the Northwest Missouri Bearcats with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
