HAYS, Kan. – The Central Missouri Jennies (12-7, 9-2) falls to the Fort Hays State Tigers (8-12, 2-9) by a final score of 3-2 (25-17, 26-24, 21-25, 20-25, 11-15) on Saturday, Oct. 14, inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan.
The Jens took the opening set of the match 25-17 thanks to a 9-2 run highlighted by three kills from redshirt senior
Kersti Nix (match-high 19 kills and three blocks overall) while setter
Olivia Olson (match-high 51 assists, 13 digs, and seven kills overall) added two service aces. After dropping the second set 24-26, the Tigers responded by winning the third set highlighted by a 5-2 run with the score tied at 17 before forcing a fifth set.
With the score tied at nine in the fifth, the Tigers went on a 5-2 run and never relinquished the lead picking up their ninth win of the season. Freshman
Emma Siron contributed a career-high 15 kills adding three blocks, while middle blocker
Rachel Ziesman had a career-high seven blocks and seven kills respectively.
Defensively, the Jens were led by redshirt senior
Jackie Storm's match-high 23 digs, plus, libero
Grace Winkelmann collected 17 digs for good measure. Junior
Arley Anderson had 16 digs, and freshman
Elinor Engel contributed seven kills and three blocks on the night.
The Jennies return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 17, as they take on the Missouri Western Griffons for Military Appreciation Night with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
