KEARNEY, Neb. – The Central Missouri Jennies (12-6, 9-1) fell to No. 9 Nebraska Kearney Lopers (19-1, 9-1) by a final score of 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 22-25) on Friday, Oct. 13, inside the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb.
In the opening set tied at 23, the Lopers benefited on a pair of attack errors claiming a 1-0 lead in the match. Trailing 23-19 in the second, UCM fought back to cut the lead to one with a 5-1 run but the Lopers answered with a Jaden Ferguson (match-high 15 kills and 15 digs overall) kill taking a 2-0 advantage.
In the final set of the match, Central Missouri trailed by as many as four but fought back to within one thanks to a kill by
Gillian Bachali (8 kills on 16 swings for a .375 attack percentage in the third set) from setter
Olivia Olson (team-high 36 assists, seven digs, four blocks, and four kills overall), but UNK held on for the three-set victory.
The Jens were led offensively by freshman
Elinor Engel (match-high five blocks) and outside hitter
Kersti Nix who contributed 11 kills each, while middle blocker
Rachel Ziesman (two blocks) and freshman
Emma Siron (career-high three digs and three blocks overall) added five kills apiece.
Defensively, UCM was led by junior
Arley Anderson's career-high 18 digs, plus, libero Grace Winklemann collected 12 digs and redshirt senior
Jackie Storm added 11 digs respectively.
The Jennies return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 14, as they take on the Fort Hays State Tigers with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan.
