EMPORIA, Kan. – The Central Missouri Mules (7-8, 3-6) fell to No. 20 Emporia State Hornets (12-3, 6-3) by a final score of 75-72 on Saturday, Jan. 7, inside White Auditorium in Emporia.
The Hornets began the afternoon on a 15-3 run but found themselves leading by eight at half-time as the Mules shot 50 percent from three. The Mules outscored Emporia State 41-36 in the second half, but the Hornets held off Central Missouri's comeback attempt.
The Hornets had two players finish the contest in double figures highlighted by a double-double from Alijah Comithier (22 points and 10 rebounds) while guard Owen Long added 21 points and three rebounds.
Central Missouri had five players finish in double figures including
Gaven Pinkley's team-high 18 points, a team-high six rebounds, and three assists; plus, guard
Trey Sides recorded 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals respectively.
Sophomore
Jack Chapman (five rebounds and a game-high four steals overall), guard
Kobe Campbell (five rebounds, two steals, and two assists), and redshirt sophomore
Mikel Henderson (four rebounds and one assist) each added 11 points on the afternoon.
The Mules return to the court on Thursday, Jan. 12, hosting the Northeastern State RiverHawks at 7:30 p.m. from the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
