WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Mules (7-6, 3-4) defeated the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (2-11, 0-7) by a final score of 62-48 on Monday, Jan. 2, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg.
After limiting UNK to just 31 percent from the field in the first half, the Mules had a 14-point lead at halftime. In the second half, UCM picked up right where they left off extending the lead by as many as 21 points and led the contest for 37 of 40 minutes.
Central Missouri had two starters end the night with 10 points each including guard
Mikel Henderson and redshirt senior
Gaven Pinkley (added four rebounds and two blocks), while forward
Ben Fritz had a game-high eight rebounds, five points, and two assists in the victory.
Guard
Trey Sides added nine points (including a team-high three made shots from beyond the arc) and three rebounds; plus, redshirt junior
Garrett Luinstra added six points, a team-high three assists, and two steals respectively.
Forward
Mark Mayle (season-high five rebounds and four points), sophomore
Yafet Haile (six points and two rebounds), and guard
Kobe Campbell (eight points, two steals, and two rebounds) contributed off the bench helping UCM outshoot the Lopers 41-37 percent from the field.
The Mules return to the court on Thursday, Jan. 5, as they take on the Washburn Ichabods from Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan. with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
