WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Emma Burden slotted a cross from
Julia Kristensen into the back of the net with four minutes remaining in the second half to lift No. 4 Central Missouri Jennies soccer to a 1-0, shutout win over the No. 12 Central Oklahoma Bronchos Friday, Sept. 23, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (8-0-1, 2-0 MIAA) are scheduled to host Newman (0-8-1, 0-2 MIAA) in a conference match Sunday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m.
Kristensen dribbled down the right side of the pitch and sent her cross just inside the center of the box, finding Burden, who tapped it into the bottom right corner of the goal in the 86th minute, putting Central Missouri in front, 1-0. It was Burden's first collegiate goal and Kristensen's fourth assist of 2022.
For the match, the Jennies outshot the Bronchos (6-1-2, 1-1 MIAA), 17-8, including a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, and edged UCO in corner kicks, 5-4.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Sydney Beck earned her second shutout between the pipes of 2022, making three saves and surrendering no goals in 90 minutes to improve to 8-0-1 in goal this season.
Central Oklahoma's Avery Bass (4-1-0) took the loss in goal, tallying six saves but allowing the game-winning goal in 90 minutes.
