Kristensen Clutch as No. 6 Jennies Soccer Clips Missouri Western Friday, 3-2

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Julia Kristensen scored a goal with less than three minutes remaining in the second-half, leading sixth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Missouri Western Griffons Friday, Sept. 16, in a non-conference match at the South Recreation Complex.

The Jennies (6-0-1) are scheduled to host Northwest Missouri for their 2022 MIAA opener Sunday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m.

Kristensen, a redshirt freshman from St. Charles, Mo., hit a laser with her right foot from the top, left side of the box into the top right corner of the net in the 87th minute, breaking a 2-2 tie and giving Central Missouri the win. It was her fourth goal of the season.

After the Jennies fell behind, 1-0, when Missouri Western (2-3-2) scored in the 24th minute, UCM's Madilyn Hamline, a redshirt freshman from Liberty, Mo., headed home a Peyton Wagoner pass in the 32nd minute, knotting the contest, 1-1.

The Griffons answered with a goal just after halftime in the 49th minute, regaining a 2-1 advantage, but Central Missouri had a response of its own 10 minutes later after Hamline took a pass from Kristensen and slotted it into the back of the net for her second goal of the match and fourth of 2022, tying the contest, 2-2, in the 59th minute.

The match remained in a 2-2 stalemate until Kristensen's game-winner 18 minutes later.

For the match, UCM outshot Missouri Western, 15-6, including 7-4 in shots on goal. The Jennies took 11 corner kicks while holding the Griffons without a corner the entire match.

Central Missouri goalkeeper Sydney Beck (6-0-1) earned the victory between the posts, surrendering two goals while making      two saves in 90 minutes.

Elsabeth Pujado and Kaili Campbell scored Missouri Western's goals, pacing the Griffons.
