MARYVILLE, Mo. – Kloee Grubb's goal with seven minutes remaining in the second half gave No. 19-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer a 1-0, shutout victory over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats in a non-conference match Sunday, Sept. 11, at Bearcat Pitch.
The Jennies (5-0-1) are scheduled to return home to the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg to open MIAA play with a match against Missouri Western Friday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m.
Grubb, a redshirt freshman defender who hails from Odessa, Mo., slotted a header from the left post into the back of the net off a
Caroline Cole free-kick in the 83rd minute for what proved to be the game-winning goal for Central Missouri. It was Grubb's first goal as a Jenny and Cole's third assist of the season.
For the match, UCM outshot Northwest Missouri (3-1-2), 12-10. The Bearcats tallied advantages in both shots on goal (6-4) and corner kicks (9-1).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sydney Beck (5-0-1) earned the win between the posts for the Jennies and picked up her first shutout of 2022 after making four saves and giving up no goals in 90 minutes.
