UCM Track and Field Posts 10 All-American Performances at NCAA-II Indoor Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Missouri Mules and Jennies track and field combined for 10 All-American performances at the 2022 NCAA-II Indoor Championships Friday, March 11, and Saturday, March 12, at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the Pittsburg State University campus.

The Mules had five individuals earn All-American accolades while the Jennies had four individuals and the 4x400m relay take home All-American honors.

In the team standings, the Mules finished in fifth place with 29 total team points while the Jennies placed 14th with 19 total team points.

Multi-Events
  • Junior Trey Miller finished runner-up in the heptathlon for his second-career All-American honor in the event with a personal-best 5,688 points. His score is the second-best in school history and fourth-best in NCAA-II history. Friday, Miller finished fifth in the 60m dash at 6.99 before winning the long jump with a mark of 7.38m (24-02.50), finishing eighth in the shot put at 12.69m (41-07.75) and placing fifth in the high jump, clearing a mark of 2.00m (6-06.75). He secured his second-place finish with a seventh place showing in the 60m hurdles at 8.25, a fifth-place performance in the pole vault after clearing 4.25m (13-11.25), and a third-place finish in the 1,000m run at 2:43.23.
  • Redshirt senior Hannah VanBuskirk placed seventh in the pentathlon with a season-best 3,705 points. It marked her second-career All-American performance in the event. VanBuskirk placed seventh in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.91 prior to taking third in the high jump, clearing a season-best 1.70m (5-07.00) and placing ninth in the shot put with a mark of 10.76m (35-03.75). She wrapped up her day with a 13th place finish in the long jump at 5.13m (16-10.00) and a ninth place showing in the 800m run, clocking a time of 2:25.76.
Pole Vault
  • The Mules went 2-3 in the pole vault, as senior Vincent Hobbie placed second and Reagan Ulrich finished third. Hobbie earned his fifth-career All-American accolade after clearing a season-best mark of 5.25m (17-02.75) for runner up honors. Ulrich cleared the same height as Hobbie, 5.25m (17-02.75), which marked a personal best for the Reeds Spring, Mo., native, but finished third due to Hobbie clearing all his height attempts, compared to one failed clearance for Ulrich. It was Ulrich's third-career All-American performance.
Throws
  • Senior Ashlan Burton finished runner up in the shot put for her fourth-career All-American honor in the event. Burton, a native of Urbandale, Iowa, recorded a throw of 15.46m (50-08.75) on her sixth and final attempt, locking in the second-place performance.
Jumps
  • In the triple jump, sophomore Kayla Goodwin picked up her third-career All-American recognition with a fifth-place finish, posting a season-best mark of 12.49m (40-11.75).
  • Senior Christopher Goodwin earned his third-career All-American honor with a fourth-place finish in the long jump Friday. Goodwin compiled a mark of 7.59m (24-11.00).
Sprints
  • Senior Lucy Steinmeyer posted her inaugural All-American performance with the Jennies, placing eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 55.09.
  • Sophomore Antonio Lay secured his first-career All-American honor after clocking a time of 6.87 to finish seventh in the 60m dash.
Relays
  • The Jennies 4x400m relay team of Alex Foote', Laia Gonzalez, Jana Shawver and Lucy Steinmeyer posted a school record time of 3:44.46 to finish fifth and earn All-American honors. It's the second straight season the Jennies have posted an All-American showing in the 4x400m relay at the indoor championships.
Central Missouri track and field is slated to open the outdoor portion of its season March 24-26 at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
