WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Missouri Jennies basketball posted a commanding 42-26 rebounding advantage but couldn't overcome 17 turnovers in a 66-61 loss to the Missouri Southern Lions Saturday, Feb. 5, inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (15-8, 11-5 MIAA) are scheduled to host Pittsburg State at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7.
Olivia Nelson tallied 20 points to lead Central Missouri while
Nija Collier (14 points, game-high 15 rebounds) and
Brooke Littrell (13 points, 11 rebounds) both had double-doubles. It was Collier's 14th double-double of the season and Littrell's 12th.
In addition to her game-best 15 rebounds, Collier tied her career-high with six blocks while Nelson dished out a team-high five assists.
The Jennies were held to just 38 percent shooting from the floor and 33 percent from three-point range. UCM went 14-of-18 at the free-throw line for 78 percent.
Missouri Southern (15-5, 12-3 MIAA) outscored Central Missouri in the paint, 24-18, and off turnovers, 11-6.
The Lions went 43 percent from the floor and 52 percent from beyond-the-arc in the contest and made 5-of-7 free throws for 71 percent.
Lacy Stokes led all scorers in the game with 25 points on 10-of-21 shooting and a 3-for-5 showing at the free-throw line.
