WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Mules (5-3, 1-1) defeated the Newman Jets (4-4, 0-2) by a final score of 69-53 on Saturday, Dec. 3, inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Jets jumped out to an early five-point lead in the opening minutes of the contest but found themselves trailing at half-time and never recovered.
The Mules were led offensively by forwards
Ben Fritz (14 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high four steals) and
Jack Chapman (14 points and two rebounds). Redshirt junior
Garrett Luinstra was the only other Mules player to finish in double figures with 10 points, three rebounds, and two steals.
In the victory, the Mules outscored Newman in the paint by a margin of 44-22 and 49.2 to 41.3 percent from the field.
Forward
Gaven Pinkley had eight points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists; plus guard Trey Side recorded five points and a career-high four assists in the victory. Guards
Mikel Henderson (three assists and two rebounds) and
Kobe Campbell (two assists and one rebound) each recorded six points respectively.
The Mules return to the court on Sunday, Dec. 11, as they host the Lincoln Blue Tigers with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m. from the Multipurpose Building.
