JOPLIN, Mo. – The 24
th ranked Central Missouri Jennies (18-9, 13-5) fell to the Missouri Southern Lions (13-14, 8-10) by a final score of 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 21-25, 24-26) inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in Joplin, Mo.
After the Lions took the first set, the Jens trailed 12-9 in the second but went on a 10-2 run to even the match. Redshirt junior
Kersti Nix had a set-high seven kills (20 kills, seven digs, and two blocks overall) on 12 swings for a .500 attack percentage.
In the third, the Lions closed out the set on a 5-2 run and ended the match with a 5-1 run in the fourth. On the night, UCM was outhit .278 to .242 thanks to a match-high 23 kills from the Lions' Fernanda Canedo.
Sophomore
Tiffany Little led the Jennies offensively with a team-high 21 kills on 37 swings (.486 attack percentage) and three digs, while setter
Olivia Olson had a team-high 42 assists, nine digs, and three blocks.
Defensively, UCM was led by libero
Grace Winkelmann's team-high 18 digs, plus middle blocker
Rachel Ziesman (seven kills and two digs overall) had a team-high five blocks. Redshirt sophomore
Grace Southern (eight kills and one dig) and middle blocker
Jenna Schulte (three kills and two digs) each recorded three blocks respectively.
Central Missouri returns to the court on Friday, Nov. 4, as they host the No. 17 Washburn Ichabods inside the Multipurpose Building for Military Appreciation Night beginning at 7:00 p.m.
