WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The 24
th ranked Central Missouri Jennies (18-10, 13-6) fell to the 17
th ranked Washburn Ichabods (21-6, 13-6) by a final score of 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25) on Friday, Nov. 4, inside the Multipurpose Building.
Thanks to a 10-2 run in the first set and a 5-2 run in the second, the Ichabods took a 2-0 advantage. In the third, the Jens responded beginning the set on an 8-3 run to cut the deficit. With a 19-17 lead in the fourth, the Ichabods ended the match on a 6-2 run.
UCM was led by outside hitter
Kersti Nix' first double-double of the year (23 kills, 11 digs, and two blocks overall), while sophomore
Tiffany Little had 11 kills, two blocks and one dig respectively.
Defensively, the Jennies were led by libero
Grace Winkelmann's 22 digs, plus middle blocker
Rachel Ziesman (six kills and three digs overall) and redshirt sophomore
Grace Southern (seven kills and four digs overall) each recorded a team-high four blocks.
UCM Setters
Chandler Vaughan (five digs and one kill overall) and
Olivia Olson (four digs, three kills, and three blocks) had over 20 assists each, while redshirt freshman
Jenna Schulte contributed nine kills, four digs, and one block on the night.
Redshirt junior
Sydney Lierz (two kills on five swings for a .400 attack percentage) and defensive specialist
Rylie Barnum added 16 digs each.
The Jens return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 5, for Senior Night against Emporia State beginning at 6:30 p.m.
