WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Julia Kristensen and
Anna Lack scored two goals, and
Madilyn Hamline dished out an assist to lead third-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer to a 2-0 shutout win over the Washburn Ichabods on Senior Day Sunday, Oct. 9, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (12-1-1, 6-1 MIAA) are scheduled to close out the regular season with four straight road matches, beginning with a trip to Nebraska Kearney Friday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. in Kearney, Neb.
After both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes of action, UCM broke through in the 61st minute when Kristensen converted a penalty-kick for her team-best ninth goal of the season, giving Central Missouri the 1-0 advantage.
Nineteen minutes later, In the 80th minute, Lack controlled a pass from Hamline in the box and slotted the ball home, doubling the Jennies' lead, 2-0. It was Lack's second goal and Hamline's fourth assist of 2022.
For the match, UCM outshot Washburn (9-3-2, 4-2-1 MIAA), 15-5, including a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Jennies also bested the Ichabods in corner kicks, 5-0.
Sydney Beck (12-1-1) earned the victory and her fourth shutout of the season between the posts for the home side, surrendering no goals while making two saves in 90 minutes.
Khloe Schuckman tallied a pair of shots on goal, pacing Washburn.
Ichabod goalkeeper Raegan Wells (9-3-2) took the loss after allowing two goals while making five saves in 90 minutes.
