WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Third-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer dropped its first match of the 2022 season Friday, Oct. 7, at the South Recreation Complex, falling to the Emporia State Hornets, 3-1.
The Jennies (11-1-1, 5-1 MIAA) are scheduled to host Washburn (9-2-2, 4-1-1 MIAA) in their final home match of the regular season Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. Sunday's match will also be Senior Day, and the Jennies will honor their seniors in a pre-match ceremony.
The Hornets (5-4-4, 3-0-3 MIAA) used goals in the 19th, 62nd and 81st minutes to post the 3-1 win over UCM.
Caroline Cole scored Central Missouri's lone goal of the match in the 37th minute, pacing the Jennies offensively. It was her seventh goal of the season.
Asta Kristindottir, Aislinn Hughes and Makenzie Dimarco netted ESU's goals while Joanie Westcoat dished out two assists, leading Emporia State in the match.
For the match, UCM outshot ESU, 19-14, including a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Sydney Beck (11-1-1) suffered her first setback of the season between the pipes after allowing three goals and making three saves in 90 minutes.
Hornet goalkeeper Tori Bailey picked up the victory, tallying six saves and giving up one goal in 90 minutes.
