EDMOND, Okla. – The Central Missouri Jennies (16-8, 11-4) defeated No. 18 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (22-5, 12-5) by a final score of 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 27-25, 25-11) inside the Hamilton Field House on Thursday, Oct. 27 to extend their winning streak to five in a row.
With the score tied at 19 in the first set, the Jens went on a 6-1 run highlighted by two kills from setter
Olivia Olson (team-high 29 assists, 14 digs, three kills overall). After taking the second set and the score tied at 25 in the third, the Bronchos committed two consecutive errors which gave UCM a 2-1 advantage.
The Jennies began the fourth set on a 12-2 run which proved to be the difference as they outhit UCO in the final set .385 to .036 and .181 to .125 in the match. Central Missouri's offense was led by redshirt junior
Kersti Nix' match-high 21 kills, six digs, and four blocks while
Tiffany Little contributed eight kills, six digs, and three blocks respectively.
Defensively, UCM was led by libero
Grace Winkelmann's team-high 16 digs, plus
Grace Southern recorded seven kills, seven blocks, and four digs in the win. Setter
Chandler Vaughan provided 11 assists, three digs, and one kill while redshirt senior
Rylie Barnum had 13 digs on the night.
The Jens return to the court Friday, Oct. 28 as they take on the Newman Jets in Wichita, Kan. beginning at 6:00 p.m.
