WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Missouri Jennies basketball outscored the Emporia State University Lady Hornets 28-8 in the first quarter and never looked back, never trailing in an 83-49 rout of the Lady Hornets in an MIAA game Monday, Jan. 3, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (9-5, 5-2 MIAA) are scheduled to begin a two-game road trip with an MIAA contest at No. 5-ranked Fort Hays State Thursday, Jan. 6, in Hays, Kan.
The 34-point margin of victory was the largest for Central Missouri against Emporia State since a 36-point win in 1984.
Redshirt freshman forward
Brooke Littrell posted her eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds while redshirt freshman guard
Charley Bovaird tied her career-high with 18 points on six three-pointers and fellow redshirt freshman guard
Kade Hackerott scored a career-best 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, pacing UCM offensively.
Olivia Nelson dished out a career-high eight assists, and
Nija Collier snagged a game-best 12 rebounds.
Including the 28-point first-quarter offensive blitz, the Jennies outscored the Lady Hornets (9-5, 4-4 MIAA) in three of the four quarters in the contest.
UCM shot 48 percent from the field (30-for-62) and 36 percent from three-point range (11-for-31) and went 12-of-16 at the free-throw line (75 percent) for the game.
Central Missouri outrebounded Emporia State, 47-30, and outscored ESU in the paint, 32-16, off turnovers, 15-7, and second chance points, 17-1.
The Jennies limited the Lady Hornets to just 26 percent shooting from the floor and 15 percent from beyond-the-arc in the contest.
Kali Martin tallied 16 points, leading Emporia State, respectively.
