WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Emporia State Hornets made 19 three pointers to lead them to a 91-59 win over the Central Missouri Mules Monday, Jan. 3, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building.
The Mules (6-5, 3-4 MIAA) are scheduled to open a two-game road trip with a contest at Fort Hays State Thursday, Jan. 6, in Hays, Kan.
The Hornets (11-3, 6-2 MIAA) went a blistering 19-for-34 for downtown, including a 10-of-19 performance in the first-half (53 percent) and a 9-for-15 showing (60 percent) in the second-half. Overall, Emporia State went 31-of-53 for 58 percent.

Gaven Pinkley scored 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting and a 5-of-7 performance at the free-throw line, while
Koray Gilbert added 11 points, pacing the Mules in the contest.
Central Missouri shot 38 percent from the floor (19-for-50) and were just 15 percent from three-point range (2-of-13). UCM made 19 of 31 free-throw attempts for 61 percent.
Emporia State outrebounded Central Missouri, 32-30, but UCM did outscore ESU in the paint, 22-20, and led in bench scoring, 29-19.
Tray Buchanan – the current leader in scoring for NCAA-II – led all scorers with 27 points while Jumah'Ri Turner netted 20 points, pacing Emporia State.
