ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (April 22, 2021) - Central Missouri picked up two wins against Missouri Western Thursday afternoon on the road. The Jennies outscored the Griffons 7-2 in game and won the second 2-1. Center Fielder
Bailey Fowler led the Jennies offense on the day with four hits and three RBI in seven at-bats.
GAME 1 - Central Missouri 7, Missouri Western 2
How it Happened:
• Central Missouri tied its season-high single inning runs scored total with seven runs in the second inning of game one against the Griffons.
• With two outs and bases loaded in the top of the second, shortstop
Abbey Fischer singled to right field scoring both
Taylor Nickel and Jessica Sadar for the first runs of the game.
• In the following at-bats, center fielder
Bailey Fowler and first baseman
Makenzie McAtee hit back-to-back doubles, scoring
Brenlyn McCoy, Fischer, and Fowler for the 5-0 lead.
• The Jennies weren't finished yet, after the consecutive doubles the designated player
Sydney Wellshear hit one out over left field scoring McAtee and herself to increase UCM's lead to 7-0.
• Through the first six innings,
Paige Petefish and the UCM defense gave up eight hits without a run scored.
• Central Missouri held on to its 7-0 lead until the bottom of the seventh. In MWSU's rally attempt, the Griffons totaled two runs off four hits and left three runners on base when
Kyleigh Lay struck out the third out of the inning.
• Following the completion of the second inning, the Griffons defense held the Jennies with just four hits and three runners left on base.
• The Jennies out hit the Griffons 9-8 with eight different Jennies recorded UCM's nine total hits.
• Three of UCM's nine hits were doubles, hit by Fowler, McAtee and Nickel.
Leading the Jennies:
• Center fielder
Bailey Fowler was the only Jennies to recorded two hits as she went 2-3 with a walk.
• Fowler,
Abbey Fischer, and
Sydney Wellshear led the Jennies with two RBI apiece.

Paige Petefish threw a game-high 6.2 innings. In 26 at-bats she allowed seven hits, two runs, and one walk while striking out one batter.
Leading the Griffons:
• The MIAA Hitter of the Week led the MWSU offense with two hits and one RBI.
• Emma Hoffart and Sierra Culver also finished with two hits,
• Natalie Kissinger threw five innings for the Griffons. In 18 at-bat she didn't allowed a single UCM hit or run scored.
• Sydney Rader pitched the first two innings against UCM. She recorded a game-high four strikeouts in 12 at-bats while allowing five hits and seven runs scored, none of which were earned.
GAME 2 - Central Missouri 2, Missouri Western 1
How it Happened:
• Missouri Western was the first to score in game two off one hit and one UCM error in the bottom of the first.
• Central Missouri scored all of its runs in a single inning again in game two.
• Down 1-0 after two complete innings,
Bailey Fowler singled to the right side to scoring pinch runner
Peyton Corrigan for the Jennies first run of the game.
• Left fielder Aubri McRoberts plated the Jennies second and final run of the inning and game, scoring off a MWSU error while fielding
Makenzie McAtee's infield hit.
• The remaining at-bats saw four hits, three of which came off the bats of Griffons.
• Both MWSU and UCM recorded four hits in game two.
• Game two saw 14 strikeouts, eight of which belongs to UCM's
Sadie Parks.
Leading the Jennies:
•
Bailey Fowler led the UCM offense again in game two with two hits. She also recorded the Jennies only RBI with her single in the top of the second.
• Second baseman
Brenlyn McCoy and Aubri McRoberts accounted for the Jennies two other hits.
• Freshman
Sadie Parks threw her fourth complete game of the season. In 22 at-bat she allowed four hits, one run, and one walk while tying her season-high eight strikeouts.
Leading the Griffons:
• The MIAA Hitter of the Week led MWSU again in game two with two hits in three at-bats while also scoring the Griffons only run.
• Kaili Hinds also threw the complete game, allowing four hits, two runs, and three walks in 25 at-bats.
News & Notes:
• In total, Central Missouri outhit the Griffons 14-13 and outscored them 9-3.
• Jennies center fielder
Bailey Fowler led the UCM offense on the day, finishing with four hits, three RBI, and one walk in seven at-bats.
• All seven of the Jennies runs in game one were unearned.
• The Jennies have now won five of the last six meetings against the Griffons and increase their lead in the all-time series to 62-32.
