Jennies Take Two from Lincoln in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (May 1, 2021) - Jennies Softball picked up their 29th and 30th wins of the season Saturday afternoon with a league sweep against Lincoln on the road. 

GAME 1 - Central Missouri 6, Lincoln 0
How it Happened:
• Freshman Sadar Parks clinched her career-first shutout tossing the complete game in the Jennies 6-0 victory over Lincoln in game one.
• In 27 batters faced, Parks and the UCM defense allowed just two Blue Tiger hits and only three runners reached on base. 
• Central Missouri's offense was quick to score in the opening at-bats with one hit, one run, and one runner left on base. Leadoff hitter Abbey Fischer doubled to left center, then stole third and made her way home on a throwing error by the Lincoln catcher for an early 1-0 lead. 
• The Jennies scored four runs off three hits in the following inning. Third baseman Jessica Sader leadoff with a double to center field which was followed by a single up the middle by Jennies catcher Taylor Nickel, advancing Sader to third. Sader was able to score on Nickel's steal to second for UCM's second run of the game.
• With one out and bases loaded, Bailey Fowler doubled to the right side scoring Nickel, Aubrie McRoberts, and Fischer to increase the Jennies lead by five. 
• Central Missouri plated its sixth and final run of the game in the top of the fourth as second baseman Brenlyn McCoy tripled to center field then scored off a sacrifice bunt by left fielder McRoberts. 
• The Jennies out-hit the Blue Tigers 7-2. Lincoln also struggled defensively with three total errors. 
• Five different Jennies recorded stolen bases as UCM tied its season-high six stolen bases.  

Leading the Jennies:
• Shortstop Abbey Fischer went a perfect 2-2 and walked a game-high two times. She also led UCM with two stolen bases and two runs scored. 
Jessica Sader tied with Fischer for the team-high and game-high two hits. Both of Sader's hits were doubles which tied her season and career single-game high. 
•  Center fielder Bailey Fowler drove in a game-high three runs with her double in the top of the second. 
•  In 24 batters faced, Sadie Parks allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out a game-high seven batters. 

Leading the Blue Tigers:
•  Jordan Hollon and Kendra Holt led Lincoln with one hit apiece. 
• Alex Miller threw six innings against the Jennies. Through 27 batters she allowed six hits, five runs, and three walks while striking out four Jennies. 

GAME 2 - Central Missouri 6, Lincoln 2
How it Happened:
• The Jennies began game two the same as game one with a score in the opening inning. Abbey Fischer tripled to center field and was then brought home on a sacrifice fly by Bailey Fowler a 1-0 lead. 
• Lincoln's defense held the Jennies in the following innings until UCM plated two runs in the top of the fourth. With one out and one runner on, another double by Jessica Sader scored first baseman Makenzie McAtee from second. Sader was then hit home on a single to right field by Lexi Parks to increase the Jennies lead to 3-0.
• The Blue Tigers scored their first runs of the day in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Lincoln plated two runs off three hits and left two runners on as UCM's lead shrank to 3-2. 
• Central Missouri added one run in the top of the sixth with yet another Sader double, driving in right fielder Ashlyn Cook to increase the Jennies lead to 4-2.
• In their final at-bats, UCM scored two runs off three hits and three Lincoln errors. With two outs and one runner on base, Bailey Fowler singled to score Fischer from second. Fowler found her own way home, scoring the Jennies sixth and final run during back-to-back throwing errors by the Blue Tigers. 
Paige Petefish and the Jennies defense ended the game in the bottom of the seventh with two strikeouts and a line out to complete the 6-2 victory.
• The Jennies out-hit Lincoln 6-4. The Blue Tigers defense struggled again in game two as they ended with four errors. 

Leading the Jennies: 
• Third baseman Jessica Sader led the Jennies with two hits in three at-bats. Just as game one saw, both of Sader's hits were doubles, tying her season and career single-game high for the second time on the day. 
• Sader also drove in a game-high two runs. 
Abbey Fischer scored the game-high two runs. 
Paige Petefish threw the complete game against the Blue Tigers. In 25 at-bats she allowed four hits and one earned run. She also stuck out a game-high 10 batters without throwing a single walk. 

Leading the Blue Tigers:
• Four different players accounted for Lincoln's four total hits. 
• Designated player Alex Miller was responsible for Lincoln only RBI. 
• Leslie Callahan and Jordan Lawson scored Lincoln's two runs. 
•  Tressa Hughes threw 6.2 innings against the Jennies. Against 25 batters she gave up five hits, three earned runs, and one walk while striking out five Jennies. 

News & Notes:
• Central Missouri's 6-0 victory in game one was the Jennies fifth shutout of the season.  
Jessica Sader led the Jennies with a 4-of-6 performance in the box. All four of Sader's hits were doubles. 
• Lincoln's defense totaled seven errors on the day.   
• The Jennies pitching staff of Sadie Parks and Paige Petefish accumulated an opponent batting average of .128 on the day. 
• Prior to recording a triple in each game today, the Jennies had gone 21 games without a one.
• The Jennies increased their all-time lead over Lincoln to 65-4. Central Missouri has won 13 of the last 14 contests against the Blue Tigers. 

Up Next:
Jennies Softball (30-10, 19-5 MIAA) will play their final games of the regular season on Monday, May 3rd, in a doubleheader against Washburn (26-13, 12-10 MIAA). Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Gahnstrom Field in Topeka, Kan.
