WARRENSBURG, Mo. (March 20, 2021) - On the second day of hosting games in the Missouri Western Regional Crossover, Central Missouri won two close match ups over NSIC teams, Concordia-St. Paul and St. Cloud State. The Jennies defeated the Golden Bears 7-6 in their first game of the day and beat the Huskies 5-4 in game two.
GAME 1 - Central Missouri 7, Concordia-St. Paul 6
How it Happened:
• The Golden Bears set the tempo early against the Jennies with back-to-back homeruns in their first at back.
• After the CSP defense held the Jennies to a 0-3 performance in their first at bats, the UCM bats came alive in the bottom of the second scoring five runs off seven hits.
• In her first at bat of the day, left fielder
Makenzie Cooper sailed one over center field to put the Jennies on the board.
• Right fielder
Ashlyn Cook singled to restart the offense after Cooper's homerun. Cook quickly found her way home as the designated player
Sydney Wellshear hit another UCM dinger, tying the game 3-3.
• With two outs and one runner on, shortstop
Abbey Fischer triped to right center, scoring
Brenlyn McCoy and Carson Stoponski to take the 5-3 lead.
• Concordia-St. Paul chipped away at the Jennies lead scoring a run in both the top of the third and fourth innings.
• Tied 5-5 moving into the fifth inning, Cooper hit her second homerun of the game, this time over left field, to regain the Jennies lead. Back-to-back doubles by Cook and Wellshear would score UCM's seventh and final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.
• After a solo Golden Bears homerun in the top of the seventh, freshman
Sadie Parks and the UCM defense put an end to CSP's rally attempt. Jennies win 7-6.
• Central Missouri finished with a season-high 13 hits and out hit the Golden Bears by five.
• Seven of the Jennies 13 hits were for extra bases: three homeruns, three doubles, and one triple.
• Both UCM and CSP left a total of five runners on base.
Leading the Jennies:

Makenzie Cooper's 3-3 performance with two homeruns led the UCM offense.
•
Ashlyn Cook joined Cooper with the team-high two runs scored on a 2-2 performance in the box.
•
Sydney Wellshear drove in a game-high three RBI.

Sadie Parks relieved
Gentry Wishard in the top of the fourth. Parks allowed just two CSP hits and one run scored while striking out three. She is now 3-1 on the season.
Leading the Golden Bears:
• Right fielder Kris McIntrye led CSP with three hits in four at bats.
• Third baseman Grace Beseman hit two bombs against the Jennies and led CSP in runs scored (3) and RBI (2).
• Bryanna Olson threw the final four innings against the Jennies giving up six hits, two runs while striking out two UCM batters.
GAME 2 - Central Missouri 5, St. Cloud State 4
How It Happened:
• The opponents were the first to score against in UCM's second game of the day as the Huskies drove in one run off two singles.
• The Jennies leadoff hitter
Abbey Fischer quickly answered St. Cloud State with a homerun to deep center. A single by

Bailey Fowler to add another UCM run for the 2-1 lead.
• Sophomore
Paige Petefish and the UCM defense held the Huskies to one hit and one runner left on base in both the second and third innings.
• Central Missouri added two more runs in the bottom of the third. With two runners on, Cooper singled through the left side to score Fowler from third, then first basemen

• Down 5-1 in the top of the fifth, St. Cloud State's Holly Weinberger hit a solo homerun to center to make it a 5-2 game.
• The Huskies added two more in the top of the sixth off two hits and one UCM error. Jennies continued to hold onto the lead at 5-4.
• Freshman
Kyleigh Lay came in to relieve Petefish during the top of the sixth. Lay and the UCM defense allowed two hits in the bottom of the seventh but ending the inning without a run scoring to finish the game.
• The Jennies were out hit for just the second time this season as the Huskies recorded nine hits while UCM finished with seven.
• St. Cloud State recorded four stolen bases against the Jennies which is the most stolen bases allowed by them so far this season.
• Central Missouri struck out a season-high eight times.
• Both the Jennies and the Huskies left a total of five runners on base.
Leading the Jennies:
•
Makenzie Cooper led UCM again in game two with two hits in three at bats. The left fielder also led the Jennies with two RBI.

Bailey Fowler scored the team-high and game-high two runs.
•
Paige Petefish picked up her fourth win of the season against the Huskies. In five innings, she allowed seven runs and four hits while striking out four St. Cloud batters.

Kyleigh Lay earned her second save of the season, holding the Huskies scoreless through the final six outs.
Leading the Huskies:
• Raven VandenLangenberg, Jamsin Estrada, and Holly Weinberger led the Huskies with two hits each.
• The designated player Estrada led St. Cloud with three RBI.
• Maya Keating and Brooke Bowlin each finished with two stolen bases.
• Trinity Junker came in to pitch for St. Cloud in the bottom of fourth. She held the Jennies without a hit or a run and struck out six batters in the final three inninngs.
News & Notes:
• Central Missouri out hit its opponents 20-17 and out scored them 12-10 on day two of the Missouri Western Regional Crossover.
•
Makenzie Cooper led the Jennies hitting .833 (5-6) on the day. She also led UCM with four RBI total.
• Cooper now leads the UCM offense and ranks second in the MIAA with a .556 batting average on the season.
• When
Kyleigh Lay came in to pitch in game two she threw 27 pitches with 24 strikes.

Ashlyn Cook is just one hit away from her career 100th.
• The Jennies are now 9-3 in their all-time series against both the Golden Bears and the Huskies.
