EMPORIA, Kan. (Feb. 9, 2021) - Central Missouri went 3-0 on their road trip, culminating with a 79-72 win at No. 25 Emporia State. The win is their eighth straight and puts them at 15-2 on the season.
How It Happened
• Central Missouri was 28-63 connecting on 44% of their attempts. They were also 39% from three hitting 11 while ESU shot 38% overall and 27% from three.
• The Jennies grabbed 48 rebounds to the Hornets 31. Of those 48 15 were offensive which led to 18 second chance points.
• UCM turned the ball over 17 times, but just six times in the second half. The Jens forced eight with three steals.Â
• It took nearly two minutes for a ball to make it through the hoop.
Olivia Nelson started it hitting a three as the shot clock buzzer went off. She hit another on the next possession and UCM was out to a 6-0 lead.
• The Jennies got up 10, 13-3 following a
Charley Bovaird three before the Hornets started to press. They cut the lead down to four with a 6-0 run, but the Jennies scored five straight of their own and led 19-12 after one. The Jennies were 4-7 from three in the frame.
• Emporia State continued to comeback in the second quarter. They got the lead down to three, 21-18, but a 10-5 run, capped by a Bovaird three put UCM back up eight. Emporia State bounced right back with seven straight, getting it down to one, 31-30, and at the half, UCM led 36-32.
• The Hornets stormed out of the gate to start the second half, scoring 17 points in less than six minutes. They took their first lead, 41-40 and extended it to five, 49-44 at the media timeout.
• That timeout settled down UCM who came out of the break getting three's from Bovaird and
Gigi McAtee, grabbing a 50-49 lead. The Jennies held the lead going into the fourth 57-55.
• The two teams traded baskets to start the fourth before the Jennies went on a run.
Nija Collier with an offensive rebound and a putback put the Jennies up five, 66-61. Collier then found a streaking
Brooke Littrell who laid it in and the Jens were up nine, 70-61, with 2:35 left to play.
• Emporia State hit a three and had a steal getting it to four, 70-66 with under a minute left. Central Missouri went 9-10 at the free throw line to close out the game and walked out with a 79-72 win.

• Central Missouri did their job at the free throw line in the final minute. UCM was 9-10 as

Olivia Nelson scored a team-high 18 points. She was 4-6 from three with five assists and a steal.

Nija Collier scored 14, 12 in the second half and pulled down 12 rebounds. She also dished out four assists.

Charley Bovaird was 5-10 from three and scored 16 points.Â

Gigi McAtee and
Brooke Littrell each scored eight. Littrell also pulled down 12 boards.

• Tre'Zure Jobe scored a game-high 21 points on 8-26 shooting.
• Karsen Schultz was 4-7 from three and scored 16.
• Fredericka Sheats added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
