ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Feb. 3, 2021) - Central Missouri Wrestling picked up its first win of season with a 35-17 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan.
Central Missouri recorded wins at six weight classes to defeat the Panthers. Heavyweight
Trevor Hankins led the Mules with the fasted pin of the dual in 1:28. Also recording victory by fall was
Austin Morgan at 165 pounds and
Jack Goin at 197. Morgan recorded a take down and a two-point near fall before pinning Kentucky Wesleyan's Thomas Karlo in 2:22. Goin had the comeback match of the night, pinning Ethan Rogers in 5:10 after being down 8-3.
John Ridle shutout Kentucky Wesleyan's Trevor South 16-0 in the first period to earn a technical fall in 3:00 at 157 pounds. The Panthers wrestled open at 174 and 184 pounds, awarding
Bryce Faworski and
Zion Vasquez forfeit victories.
Kentucky Wesleyan's only contested points over the Mules were at 125 pounds.
Trevor Wishne suffered a 15-0 technical fall in 3:15 against Adam Bender. Central Missouri didn't compete at 133 and 141 pounds, and there was no match at 149 pounds.
Prior to defeating the Panthers, UCM faced No. 4 Lindenwood. Ridle was the only victorious Mules at 157 pounds defeating Anthony Michaels in a 3-2 decision.
Ridle remains undefeated with a perfect 8-0 record while Hankins, Morgan, Goin Faworski and Vasquez each earned their first victories of the season.
Mules Wrestling returns to action Saturday, Feb. 6 against No. 23 Newman. The MIAA showdown is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. in the UCM Multipurpose Building.
