EDMOND, Okla. (Feb. 28, 2021) - Central Missouri Wrestling competed in its final competition of the 2020-21 season at the NCAA Division II Super Region IV Championships, hosted by Central Oklahoma.

Austin Morgan and sophomore
John Ridle were the only Mules to record a win at the regional. Ridle led UCM with nine total points in his two regional victories.
After a first-round bye, Ridle was set to face No. 15 Fort Hays State's Anthony Scantlin. Scantlin upset UCM's 12th-ranked 157 pounder, pinning Ridle in the final round at 6:27 for his first loss of the season. Battling back in the consolation rounds, No. 12 Ridle defeated No. 22 Maryville's Michael Peters in a 6-1 decision. Still fighting for a ticket to the big dance, Ridle recorded his biggest win of the season, pinning McKendree's No. 4 Nate Smalling in the third period, 3:13. Ridle's season was ultimately brought to an end by Division II's third-ranked 157 pounder, Ronald Gentile in a 7-3 decision. No. 2 Lindenwood's Gentile went on to earn a third-place finish.
Wrestling at 184 pounds, Morgan received a first-round bye before facing No. 5 McKendree's Josh Jones. Morgan battled the entire seven minutes against Division II's fourth-ranked 174 pounder. With riding points, No. 4 Jones defeated Morgan with a technical fall, 20-5. In the consolation bracket, Morgan defeated No. 23 Newman's JD Johnson with a 5-3 decision. Morgan's season was brought to an end by Fort Hays State's Marty Vanhaeghe. Vanhaeghe pinned Morgan in 2:17 and became the final place-winner in the 174 pound bracket with a fourth-place finish.
The criteria for reaching the NCAA Championships changed this year due to the on-going pandemic. This region was slotted only 17 spots for nationals which are March 12-13 in St. Louis. Top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney won the NCAA Super Region IV Championships for the third-straight year. All 10 Lopers are headed to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
