WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Nija Collier scored a career-high 31 points and
Kade Hackerott added a career-best 13 points, helping No. 25-ranked Central Missouri Jennies basketball to a 71-46 victory over the Lincoln Blue Tigers in the MIAA opener for both teams Sunday, Dec. 5, inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (5-3, 1-0 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to St. Joseph, Mo., for an MIAA game at Missouri Western Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m.
Collier, a redshirt senior from Roseville, Mich., went 14-for-18 from the floor, including a 2-for-2 performance from three-point range, and added a free-throw for her career-high 31 points in the contest while Hackerott, a redshirt freshman from Goddard, Kan., scored her career-best 13 points on 50 percent shooting from the field (6-for-12) and a 1-of-2 showing at the foul line.
Collier added a game-high 11 rebounds to secure her team-best sixth double-double of the season.
Olivia Nelson netted 13 points and dished out a career-high eight assists.
For the game, Central Missouri went 29-of-54 from the field for 54 percent and 4-of-13 from beyond-the-arc for 31 percent. The Jennies made nine of 13 free throws for 69 percent.
UCM dominated Lincoln (4-3, 0-1) in the paint, outscoring the Blue Tigers, 50-24. The Jennies outrebounded Lincoln, 30-27, and forced 21 Blue Tiger turnovers which led to 18 Central Missouri points. The Jennies also had 16 assists and 10 steals in the game.
Le'Yanna McGinnis scored 15 points to pace Lincoln, respectively.
