Washburn Turns Back Jennies Basketball on New Year’s Eve, 66-59

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Brooke Littrell scored a game-high 23 points, but it wasn't enough, as the Washburn University Ichabods took down Central Missouri Jennies basketball, 66-59, in an MIAA game on New Year's Eve Friday, Dec. 31, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building.

The Jennies (8-5, 4-2 MIAA) will look to bounce back when they host Emporia State Monday, Jan. 3, at 5:30 p.m.

A redshirt freshman forward from Green City, Mo., Littrell netted her 23 points on 8-for-19 shooting and a perfect 6-of-6 showing at the free-throw line. Olivia Nelson also reached double figures for UCM in the contest, scoring 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting and an 8-for-8 performance at the foul line.

Central Missouri struggled shooting the ball in the game, going just 35 percent from the field (20-for-57) and 17 percent from three-point range (4-of-23). UCM made 15 out of 22 free throws for 68 percent.

The Jennies were outrebounded by Washburn (5-7, 3-3 MIAA) in the contest, 35-31, and surrendered 51 percent shooting from the floor to the Ichabods (26-for-51).

Hunter Bentley netted 18 points, and Nuria Barrientos added 11 points, pacing Washburn.
