WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Washburn's Connor Deffebaugh converted a layup with two seconds left in the second half to lift the Ichabods to a 67-65 win over Central Missouri Mules basketball in a New Year's Eve MIAA game at the UCM Multipurpose Building Friday, Dec. 31.
The Mules (6-4, 3-3 MIAA) will look to get back in the win column when they host Emporia State Monday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

Ja'Cor Nelson netted a game-best 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting and a 4-for-9 showing at the free-throw line and pulled down 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, while
Gaven Pinkley added 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting, leading Central Missouri.
UCM shot 41 percent from the floor (25-for-61) but were only 24 percent from three-point range (6-of-25) and 53 percent at the free-throw line (9-of-17) in the game.
The Mules were outrebounded by Washburn (7-6, 4-3 MIAA), 45-36.
Jeremy Harrell scored 17 points, Tyler Geiman had 14 points, Jalen Lewis netted 13 points and Tyler Nelson chipped in 11 points, leading the Ichabods. Geiman also had 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Washburn shot 44 percent from the field (25-for-57) and were just 19 percent from beyond-the-arc (5-for-26) and 55 percent at the charity stripe (12-of-22).
