WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Hannah Engelken hit a blistering .750 with 12 kills and added five blocks to lead top-ranked and No. 1-seeded Central Missouri Jennies volleyball to a 3-0 sweep over eighth-seeded Arkansas Tech in the quarterfinals of the NCAA-II Central Region tournament Thursday, Dec. 2, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building. The set scores were 25-13, 25-22 and 25-18.
The Jennies (29-3) advance to the Central Region semifinals and will face sixth-ranked and fifth-seeded Washburn (27-5) Friday evening, Dec. 3, at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Warrensburg. The other semifinal match, slated for 5 p.m., will pit No. 12-ranked and sixth-seeded Nebraska Kearney against 15th-ranked and No. 7 seed Concordia-St. Paul.
Engelken, a redshirt junior from Overland Park, Kan., tallied her match-high 12 kills on 16 attempts with zero errors while
Audrey Fisher compiled nine kills on 14 swings and hit .643. It's the 26th match this season Fisher has hit at least .300 or better.
Sydney Lierz added eight kills and hit .320, and
Hannah VanBuskirk had seven kills on .500 hitting.
Ally Offerdahl dished out 36 assists, and
Rylie Barnum and Lierz both had nine digs.
The Jennies hit a sizzling .438 for the match while limiting the Golden Suns (22-8) to .231 hitting and utilized a 9-1 advantage in blocks to help secure the victory.
Emily Ragsdale had 11 kills and hit .588, and Haylee Paladini added 10 kills on .185 hitting, pacing the Golden Suns, respectively.
