JOPLIN, Mo. – Nija Collier collected her team-best ninth double-double of the season with 27 points and 12 rebounds, and
Kade Hackerott tallied a career-high 14 points to help Central Missouri Jennies basketball inch past Missouri Southern, 68-64, Thursday, Dec. 16, inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
The Jennies (7-4, 3-1 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Pittsburg, Kan., for an MIAA contest at Pittsburg State Saturday, Dec. 18, at 1:30 p.m.
Collier, a redshirt senior from Roseville, Mich., eclipsed the 20-point threshold for the seventh time this season, including the last four games, with her 27 points. Collier went 7-for-13 from the field and 12-for-14 at the free-throw line for her game-high 27.
A redshirt freshman from Goddard, Kan., Hackerott posted her career-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and a 4-for-5 performance at the foul line.
Olivia Nelson scored 15 points and dished out three assists, while
Brooke Littrell compiled her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 boards.
The Jennies shot just 34 percent from the field for the game, going 19-of-56, and were only 2-for-17 from three-point range for 12 percent, but were 28-for-36 at the free-throw line for 78 percent. UCM also outrebounded Missouri Southern (6-3, 3-1 MIAA) in the contest, 49-36.
Lacy Stokes scored 19 points and tallied eight assists, pacing the Lions.
