WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Ja'Cor Nelson posted a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 10 rebounds and added a career-high-tying six steals to lead Central Missouri Mules basketball to a 63-55 win over the William Jewell Cardinals Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the UCM Multipurpose Building.
The Mules (2-1) are scheduled to host Baker University Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m.
Nelson, a redshirt senior guard from Hopkins, S.C., scored his game-best 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and a 2-of-3 performance at the free-throw line.
Matthew Todd (13 points) and
Koray Gilbert (12 points) also scored in double figures for Central Missouri.
UCM shot 43 percent from the floor (20-of-47) and was 81 percent from the foul line (21-of-26) in the game. The Mules were outrebounded by William Jewell (2-3), 35-27, but forced the Cardinals into 22 turnovers and scored 22 points off turnovers.
Central Missouri had a season-high 12 steals during the contest and posted a 30-16 advantage in points scored in the paint.
Kobe McKinley netted 14 points and snagged six rebounds, pacing William Jewell, respectively.
