WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Gaven Pinkley scored 17 points,
Ja'Cor Nelson added 16 points, and
Koray Gilbert tallied 14 points leading University of Central Missouri Mules basketball to an 84-47 win over the Baker University Wildcats Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Multipurpose Building.
The Mules (3-1) are scheduled to host Lincoln for their 2021-22 MIAA opener Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m.
Pinkley, a forward from Hillsboro, Mo., scored his game-best 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 showing from three-point range, and went 2-of-2 at the free-throw line, and compiled three steals, while Nelson, a guard from Hopkins, S.C., went an impressive 7-of-8 from the floor and 2-of-2 from beyond-the-arc for his 16 points and had a game-best four steals.
Gilbert, a guard from St. Louis, Mo., went 6-for-8 from the field, 1-for-2 from downtown and 1-of-1 at the charity stripe for his 14 points.
Matt Todd dished out a season-best seven assists, and
Cameron Hunter had a team-best five rebounds, rounding out the UCM leaders in the contest.
Central Missouri shot 50 percent from the floor (33-of-66), 57 percent from three-point range (12-of-21) and 75 percent (6-of-8) at the free-throw line for the game and outrebounded the Wildcats (5-4), 32-31).
UCM forced 19 Baker turnovers and scored 23 points off those miscues, while also outscoring the Wildcats in the paint, 32-6.
Tyler White netted nine points, leading Baker, respectively.
