John Ridle captured his second consecutive 157-pound title, finishing first at the Grand View Open Saturday, Nov. 13, at Southeast Polk High School.
A native of West Dundee, Ill., Ridle improved his season tournament record to a perfect 9-0 with his 5-0 showing Saturday.
Ridle opened his run to the Grand View Open title at 157 with a 16-0, tech fall win over Cumberland's Turner Black before taking down unattached wrestler Austin Loza via a 9-6 decision for a berth in the quarterfinals. He moved on to the semifinals with a 9-5 decision over unattached Grand View wrestler Israel Casarez and punched his ticket to the championship match after besting Grand View's Steven Lawrence with a 16-10 decision.
In the title match against unattached wrestler Brice Coleman, Ridle claimed victory in dramatic fashion, getting a takedown in the last-minute of the match for the 10-8 triumph.
Central Missouri is scheduled to host preseason No. 6-ranked McKendree in its first dual meet of the 2021-22 season Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. inside the UCM Multipurpose Building.
