WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Fourth-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies volleyball clinched at least a share of its 25th MIAA regular season championship with a 3-0 sweep of the Newman University Jets Thursday, Nov. 11, at the UCM Multipurpose Building on Senior Night. The set scores were 25-15, 25-22 and 25-18.
It's the first conference regular season crown for UCM since 2014 and the sixth regular season championship under head coach
Flip Piontek.
The Jennies wrap up the regular season with an overall record of 25-3 and finish with an MIAA mark of 18-2. Central Missouri will host an MIAA tournament quarterfinal match Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. against a to-be-determined opponent.
Hannah Engelken tallied 16 kills on .375 hitting leading the Jennies offensively in the match while
Ally Offerdahl dished out a match-high 34 assists.
Rylie Barnum compiled a team-best 16 digs, and
Audrey Fisher had a team-high four blocks with one block solo and three block assists.
Central Missouri outhit Newman (9-17, 5-15 MIAA) in the contest, .211 to .109, and finished the match with advantages in kills (46-30), assists (38-27), digs (71-64) and service aces (7-1).
Riley Daughtery had nine kills and Imani Jones posted a match-best five blocks, pacing the Jets, respectively.
