WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Fifth-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies volleyball rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win three consecutive sets and defeat the No. 14 Nebraska Kearney Lopers, 3-2, Friday, Oct. 8, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building. The set scores were 19-25, 26-28, 25-16, 26-24 and 16-14.
The Jennies (13-2, 5-1 MIAA) have a quick turnaround, as they host Fort Hays State for an MIAA match at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, for Healthcare Workers Appreciation Night. All healthcare workers and their family members will receive FREE admission to the match with a valid ID.Â
Kersti Nix paced four Jennies with double digit kills in the contest, tallying 18 kills on 35 attempts with four errors for a .400 attacking percentage.
Hannah Engelken added a season-high 13 kills on .357 hitting and had a match and season-best seven blocks, while
Audrey Fisher posted 11 kills on .310 hitting and tallied a match and season-high seven blocks.
Sydney Lierz compiled her third double-double of 2021 with 10 kills and a career-high 18 digs, and added a season-best three service aces, and
Rylie Barnum had a career-best 26 digs.
Ally Offerdahl (31) and
Chandler Vaughan (career-high 27) led the Jennies in assists.
Central Missouri outhit Nebraska Kearney (13-4, 4-4 MIAA) in the match, .285 to .250, and had a season-best 14 total blocks in the contest (28 block assists) with just one blocking error. UCM also bested UNK at the service line, posting nine aces compared to six for the Lopers.
Emerson Cyza had a match-high 20 kills, and Maddie Squiers tallied a match-best 64 assists, pacing Nebraska Kearney.
