BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Feb. 15, 2020) - Central Missouri opened their 2020 season with back-to-back wins at the Arkansas-Monticello Classic. In their two games, the Jennies totaled 24 runs off 26 hits.
Game 1 - Central Missouri 11, Arkansas-Monticello 5
• The Jennies scored six runs in their first inning of the 2020 season.
• A double by
Ashlyn Cook drove in
Lauryn Deer and
Bailey Fowler to give UCM an early advantage.
• With bases loaded, Cook and
Jessica Sader scored on a pass ball to give the Jennies a 4-0 lead.
• Another passed ball brought
Makenzie McAtee and
Sydney Wellshear around the bases and home for the Jens final runs of the first inning.
• Central Missouri scored two more run in the top of the second as Sader hit her first bomb of the season with Deer on second.
• Arkansas-Monticello answered Sader's homerun with a solo homer of their own. Jennies led 8-1.
• Deer began the top of the fourth inning with her second consecutive single. She was then brought home on a double by Cook.
• With two outs, Cook scored on a single by McAtee, who was then hit home with a double by Wellshear.
• Down 11-1, the Blossoms plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth on four hits and one UCM error.
• Arkansas-Monticello scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh to total five runs to UCM's 11.
Jennies Stat Leaders:
• Senior center fielder Deer went 3-3 while scoring the team-high of three runs.
• Cook drove in the team-high of three runs off two doubles.

Alexa Bradley picked up her first win of her senior season. She faced 34 batters while giving up nine hits and five runs and totaled five strikeouts.
For the Blossoms:
• Kara DeBruin lead Ark.-Monticello with three hits, two of which were triples, on four at bats and scored two runs.
• Haley Godeaux drove in the team-high of three runs on two hits.
• Alexis Pevehouse threw five innings for the Blossoms. She gave up 11 runs on 10 hits and totaled five strikeouts.
Game 2 - Central Missouri 13, Quincy 0
• The Jennies took an 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Deer found her way home on a fielder choice by Cook.

Taylor Nickel and Deer brought in three of the Jens four runs in the second inning. Deer scored the fourth run on a Quincy pass ball.
• More errors by the Hawks in the top of the third allowed Sader and
Peyton Corrigan to move around the bases.
• An
Abbey Fischer single brought Wellshear home from second.
• Fischer made her way home on two-run homer by Deer.
• With a 10-0 lead, UCM scored their final three runs in the top of the fourth inning off four hits and one hawk error.
• Wellshear double that brought home Cook and Corrigan was followed with a single by
Carson Staponski to scored Wellshear from third.
Jennies Stat Leaders:
• Deer lead the offense again in game two. Deer finished 3-4 with a single, a double and a homerun to drive in the team-high of four runs.
• Freshmen Corrigan and Wellshear each recorded two hits and scored two runs.
• Making her first appearance in the circle for the Jennies was
Paige Petefish. Petefish earned her first collegiate win throwing a two-hit shutout and totaled four strikeouts.
For the Hawks:
• Taylor Downen and Chelsea Hooker were the only Hawks to record a hit against Petefish, both of which were doubles.
• Bailee Highbarger and Jayle Jennings each totaled 1.2 innings in the circle. Highbarger recorded two strikeouts while allowing five runs off four hits.
News and Notes:
• The Jennies scored early collecting seven first-inning runs in the two games and had a lead in each game after one inning.
• UCM hit .476 with two outs and drove in nine two-out runs.
• Central Missouri came up big with runners on hitting .480 with a runner in scoring position.
• Deer's homerun against Quincy was just the third of the senior's career while sophomore Sader now has six total.
• The Jennies last shutout came March 31 of last year in a 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist.
• Deer is two runs away from 100 career runs scored.

Central Missouri returns to action in the Arkansas-Monticello Classic tomorrow, Feb. 16. The Jennies first face Southwest Baptist (0-7, 0-0 GLVC) at 12 p.m. then Henderson State (4-6, 0-0 GAC) at 4 p.m. in Bentonville, Ark.
