Bowling Returns for Second Semester at Maryville Invitational

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (Jan. 27, 2020) - Central Missouri Jennies Bowling returned to action last weekend, competing the 2020 Columbia 300 Saint Invitational. The Jennies finished in eighth in the 18 team field, going 9-4.

The Jennies started off going 5-1 in Baker Frame games. They won their first three defeating Valparaiso, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Arkansas State. Their win over Arkansas State was a high-scoring affair as they defeated the Red Wolves 1,027-1,013. The Jens then lost by just five pins to Sam Houston State before finishing the day with a win against Aurora. 

In traditional matches, the Jennies again went 4-1. They had two matches with at least 1,000 points. They won their first four matches defeated Tusculum, Augustana College, Louisiana Tech and North Central before falling to Lincoln Memorial in their final match. UCM won by just five pins over Louisiana Tech, 1,028-1,019 in another tight battle.

Heading to the final bracket, the Jennies were the seventh seed. They won their opening match in seven games over Louisiana Tech, 4-3. The Jens were down 3-2 but won the final two games 201-192 and 242-191. UCM then again went seven games, but this time falling to host Maryville. For the second straight matches the Jennies got behind 3-2 and won game six, but the Saints took the final game 213-187. Playing for seventh place, the Jennies again met Louisiana Tech. They got on top 2-1 (with one tie) before Louisiana Tech took the final three games in the series. 

Individually, Paytynn Kuhns led UCM averaging 199.8 points. She totaled 999 pins in five games and placed 16th. Jacqueline Garcia-Ulloa placed 23rd averaging 195 pins in five games. Stephanie Richards also placed in the top-30 finishing 29th averaging 191.40 pins.

The Jennies are scheduled to compete next at the Lewis Invitational Feb. 21-23 in Tinley Park, Ill. at the Lewis Invitational.
