WARRENSBURG, Mo. (May 17, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules baseball got another brilliantly pitched game, defeating Central Oklahoma 6-1 in round two of the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
Play-by-Play
• The Mules again scored early, spotting starting pitcher
Luke Lucas a 1-0 lead.
• UCM was the visiting team and
Mason Janvrin started the game with an infield single. He came in to score on
Harrison Schnurbusch's RBI ground out.
• Central Missouri added a run in the second playing some small ball.
Cole Taylor led off with an infield single and a safety squeeze bunt front him in for a 2-0 Mules lead.
• The score stayed that way until the fourth when the Bronchos finally brought in a run off Lucas. A leadoff double started the inning and a sacrifice fly made it a one run game, 2-1.
• The Mules broke it open a half inning later scoring three runs on five hits. Janvrin led off the inning with a long solo home run to left.
• After a flyout, UCM knocked four straight singles, the last two from
Josh Schumacher and
Cole Taylor each driving in runs.
• Lucas was on cruise control after that, throwing three more scoreless innings, before giving way to
Bryce Kearns who pitched the final two.
• A two-out balk brought in the Mules sixth run in the eighth.
• The Bronchos put runners on base in the eighth and ninth but couldn't score as UCM took a 6-1 win.
Mules Stat Leaders

Luke Lucas started and threw the first seven innings. He allowed a run on six hits with a strikeout.

Mason Janvrin picked up four hits in five at bats with a home run, two runs and two RBI.

Josh Schumacher and
Cole Taylor had two hits and an RBI each.

Erik Webb doubled and had two hits in three at bats with a run scored and a walk.
•
Bryce Kearns threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen allowing three hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

• Dylan Hall threw the first five innings allowing five runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts.
• Colton Croft threw the final four giving up a run on four hits.
• Kyle Crowl picked up two hist in there at bats.
• Spencer Van Scoyoc had three hits.
• TK McWhertor knocked two hits.
News and Notes
• Big day for
Mason Janvrin. He not only extended his reached base streak to 54 games (66 in the last two years), his fourth hit of the day was his 100th of the season. Just the third Mule to ever reach 100 hits in a single season.
• Today marked the 100th NCAA Regional game for the Mules who are 74-26 all time in the regional tournament.

Luke Lucas improves to 6-0 this season. UCM has not lost a start with him on the mound.
• Mules pitchers have allowed just two runs in two NCAA Tournament games.

Erik Webb hit his 60th career double.
• The Mules racked up 14 hits for the second straight day. They have 10 or more hits in their last five games.

• The Mules move on to the Central Region semifinal. They'll play Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m. The Mules will need to be defeated twice to be eliminated, a win will push them into the regional semifinal.
