WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 9, 2019) - A late addition to the schedule didn't throw the Mules for a loop. They picked up where they left off Saturday, slugging 17 hits en route to a 9-3 win over Arkansas Tech. The win over the regional foe puts UCM at 23-11 this season.
Play-by-Play
• It was a rocky start for the Mules and starting pitcher
Collin Jones. After a ground out, the next three batters reached base and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch scored the first run of the game.
• The Mules weren't down long, responding with two of their own in the first.
Erik Webb's triple kicked off the scoring to tie the game, and
Harrison Schnurbusch gave UCM the lead with a sac fly to right.
• Jones settled in and tossed three straight scoreless frames after the first. The Mules got him another run in the fourth when
Gaven Strobel singled to plate
Kole Ficken.
• ATU got to within a run in the fifth. A two-out RBI single made it a 3-2 ball game.
• Central Missouri distanced themselves a bit in the bottom of the inning.
Alex Madera led off with a single and
Erik Webb went deep to left to give the Mules a 5-2 lead.
• An inning later, it was Schnurbusch's turn to take a trip around the bases. He couldn't trot like Webb though. Schnurbusch's deep drive to left center caromed off the fence and rolled far enough way for Schnurbusch to make it home with a two-run inside the park home run.
• The Mules totaled three runs in the sixth and led 8-2.
• Arkansas Tech hit a solo home run in the seventh and Schnurbusch picked up RBI number four with a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.
