LIBERTY, Mo. (April 24, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball went on the road for their final nonconference game of the regular season. The Mules defeated William Jewell 8-5, improving to 29-12 this season.
Play-by-Play
• Each teams put a run on the board in the first inning. With two outs,
Erik Webb doubled and scored an unearned run as an error allowed
Harrison Schnurbusch to reach base and Webb to come in from second.
• The first two for the Cardinals reached base in the bottom of the inning. William Jewell got their unearned run back as a throwing error brought in the tying run.
• UCM reclaimed their lead with another two-out run.
Harrison Schnurbusch again was at the plate. His bunt single scored
Mason Janvrin from third.
• The Mules led the rest of the way. They added a run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from
Zak Whalin and then put up a three-spot in the fifth.
• Back-to-back triples from
Alex Madera and Webb started the inning. Two productive outs brought in two more runs.
Michael Sinks scored Webb with a ground out and
Cole Taylor brought in Schnurbusch with a sacrifice fly to center.
• After William Jewell scored two runs to make it a 6-3 game, the Mules put up two more runs in the eighth. Janvrin singled home
Donovan Ditto and
Zak Whalin came in on a throwing error.
• A two-run home run in the bottom of the inning again made it a three-run game, 8-5, but
Coby Seiz shut the door in the ninth for the win.

Mason Janvrin was 3-5 with a run scored RBI and a stolen base.

Erik Webb scored two runs and picked up two more extra base hits, a double and a triple.

Alex Madera was 2-5 with a triple and run scored.

Josh Schumacher picked up a pair of hits.

Max Abramovich started and threw five innings allowing two runs (one earned) with three strikeouts.
For the Cardinals
• Nick Gavin homered and was 2-4 with a run and two RBI.
• Tyler Murphy was 1-3 with a double, walk, run scored and an RBI.
• Mason Goade scored twice with a hit and two walks.
• Kylan Easley started and lasted four innings giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits.
News and Notes
• The start for Abramovich was the first of his career and his five innings pitched are a career-high.

Mason Janvrin and
Erik Webb both extended their reached-base streaks. Janvrin upped his to 41 straight while Webb is at 40.
• The Mules finished the season at 10-4 in nonconference games this season.
• This is the 10th win for the Mules against William Jewell. They are 10-6 all-time.
• The Mules were outstanding with runners on third base. In five opportunities, Mule batters picked up six RBI.Â
• The save for Seiz was his second this season and third career.

• The Mules will be back home for a final time this regular season. They host Fort Hays State this weekend, April 26-28. Friday evening will also be Military Appreciation Day and Saturday will serve as Senior Day.Â
