Mules Finish Off Three-Game Sweep of Lions

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 14, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball (26-11, 17-7 MIAA) scored early and never trailed in their 7-3 win over Lindenwood. The win completes a series sweep for the Mules and gives them a five-game winning streak.

Play-by-Play
• With one on and two outs in the second, Zak Whalin opened up the scoring with a two-run home run to left center, scoring Michael Sinks and giving the Mules a 2-0 lead.
• The Mules led the rest of the afternoon. Luke Lucas kept the Lions off the board through five. UCM added a run in the bottom of the fifth on Erik Webb's RBI single through the left side of the infield for a 3-0 lead.
• Lucas nearly got through six without allowing a run. With two outs and two on, he had Neil Fisher down in the count 0-2, but Fisher lifted one to right where the wind was blowing out and it fell behind Webb for a two-RBI double.
• With the lead cut to just one, 3-2, UCM responded by hanging a four-spot on the board in the bottom of the inning. They played a little small-ball to get the first run in. With runners on the corners and one out, Dalton Dull dropped down a perfect squeeze bunt, and when noone covered first, he made it safely with an RBI hit.
• Mason Janvrin dropped down a bunt of his own on the next pitch to load the bases before Alex Madera scored a run with an infield single.
• With the bases still loaded, Erik Webb picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly and Harrison Schnurbusch's single to left scored the fourth run of the inning, putting the Mules ahead, 7-2.
• Lindenwood threatened in the seventh and eighth. With two in scoring position in the seventh, they got a run back on a ground-out. They put the first two on in the eighth, but Luke Mercer got out of the inning with a 5-4-3 double-play, to keep it a 7-3 ball game.
• Jonathan Sprinkle pitched a perfect ninth to complete the sweep for the Mules with a 7-3 win.
