CLEVELAND, OH. (March 9, 2019) -
John Feeney was the sole representative for Mules Wrestling at the NCAA DII Wrestling Championships this weekend at 133-pounds. During his first trip to the national competition, he finished 0-2 in competition to complete his junior season 7-11.
Feeney's first opponent was a familiar one, as he wrestled Wesley Dawkins from Nebraska-Kearney. The two met previously in a dual where Dawkins defeated Feeney by fall at 2:37. Unfortunately, the rematch resulted in Feeney falling to Dawkins by technical fall.
John Feeney then moved on to the consolation round where he took on Alexis Soriano of Mercyhurst. He fell to Soriano by sudden victory (1) 6-4.Â
On the season, Mules Wrestling finished 2-7 in the conference and captured a 7th place team finish at the NCAA Super Region IV Championships.Â
