COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 9, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball battled back from down nine to force extras, but UCCS was able to hold off the comeback, plating a run in the 11th to even the series at 1-1 with a 6-5 win. The Mules now stand at 2-3 this season.
How it Happened
• It was a struggle in the field today with both teams making four errors.
• The Mules punched six hits while the Mountain Lions collected eight.
• With runners in scoring position is where the Mules struggled. They went just 1-8 while the Mountain Lions were 4-8. UCCS doubled up the Mules with four hits with runners on base while UCM had just two.
• UCM couldn't get out of their own way in the first inning as they gave up three runs, helped out by two errors. Evan Richards poke a 2-2 pitch to left to drive in a run to start the scoring. John Mallon then played two with a single up the middle on a 1-2 pitch.
• The Mountain Lions added to their total with a solo home run from Matt McDermott in the second and a run-scoring wild-pitch in the fourth.
• UCM finally scored a run in the fifth as

Zack Ehlen on a groundout. One inning later,
Harrison Schnurbusch and
Michael Sinks made it a 5-3 game with back-to-back RBIs.

Erik Webb cut the lead down to one, 5-4 with a two-out home run to left.
• The Mules had runners on second and third with two out in the ninth, but could only tie on
Dalton Dull's RBI ground out.
• Despite making two outs on the bases in the 11th, the Mountain Lions were still able to push the winning run across. Cody Norton singled with two outs and stole second and Riley Gregory ended it with a walk-off double to right.

Mason Janvrin was the only Mule with a multiple hit game going 2-5 with a run scored.

Zack Ehlen scored twice with one hit.

Erik Webb launched a home run to finish the day 1-3.

Mason Green started and threw 3.1 innings allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits.

Coby Seiz was dominant out of the pen tossing three innings of one-hit ball with seven strikeouts.

Eric Lindsay suffered the loss in the 11th.
For the Mountain Lions
• Riley Gregory went 3-5 with a run and an RBI.
• Matt McDermott was 1-4 with a home run.
• John Mallon drove in two and reached base three times with two walks and a hit.
• Colin Cicere started and lasted six innings giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits with five strikeouts.
• Cam Aufderheide got the win after pitching a 1-2-3 11th inning.

• The top three in the Mules lineup all scored a run.

Coby Seiz's seven punch outs are not only a career-high for him, they are also an individual high for UCM this season.
• UCM needed six pitchers to get through 11 innings while the Mountain Lions used just three.
