Last Time on the Mat
Last time out, UCM went head to head with Fort Hays State. Starting off at 125 where
Justin Mitchell earned a 7-3 decision over Broderick Green. After a clean first period, both grapplers picked up a takedown and an escape in the second. Tied at three going into the third, Mitchell pulled away with an escape, takedown and a penalty point after Green was called twice for stalling. The Mules made it back-to-back wins with
John Feeney also landing a decision victory, 802 over Payton Sadowski at 133 pounds. Feeney got the lead in the first period with a takedown and led the rest of the way, earning three points for UCM.
Mules Stat Leaders

Allan Person and
Dominique Hampton each won 16 matches last season. Person picked up his first win of the season at the Grand View Open but has not returned to the mat due to injury.

Dominique Hampton has come out strong this season and was the top finisher at the Roger Denker Open placing second.

Justin Mitchell had a successful weekend at 125 pounds, placing sixth overall and has now placed at the last two opens for the Mules. Mitchell won by decision last week against FHSU.

Dakota Thevel had a breakthrough week at the Hastings Open, where he finished third at 141 pounds scoring 14.0 points on the day.

John Feeney was the top finisher two weeks ago against McKendree. Feeney was the only Mule defeat a Bearcat.
•
Jesse Reser opened up his season in a big way taking on a No. 6 ranked opponent at 165-pounds defeating him by decision 8-7 against Lindenwood. Reser has not returned to the mat since due to injury.

• The Mules will continue their long road trip, and head to the Drury Duals to battle Drury and Westminster.
