Jennies Go On the Road and Take Down Lions, 76-66

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (Feb. 27, 2019) - No. 24 Central Missouri Jennies Basketball went on the road and took down the Lindenwood Lions 76-66. Two Jennies scored 20+ as they move to 21-5 this season and 14-4 in the MIAA.

How it Happened
• Central Missouri shot 50% from the floor, hitting 29-of-58. They hit five three-pointers and were 13-17 at the foul line.
• The Jennies forced 20 Lion turnovers and scored 16 off of them.
• Despite being outrebounded by 10, 32-22, the Jennies matched the Lions with 11 second-chance points.
• Things started quick for the Jens when Paige Redmond found Morgan Fleming in transition and Megan Skaggs completed a three-point play for a 7-2 lead.
• Redmond and Crockett sunk back-to-back threes and it was a 9-0 Jennies run as they led by nine, 13-4.
• Lindenwood got closer with a 6-0 run in the middle of the period, but they committed six turnovers and UCM was 8-14 and 4-6 from three in the opening frame, and led 25-16 after one.
• The Lions closed the gap to four, 29-25, with an 8-0 run early in the second. Fleming ended the stretch with a layup right before the midway point.
• Another Lion scoring run, this time 5-0, brought them within two, 33-31, with two minutes left.
• Morgan VanHyfte ended the half with a buzzer-beating jumper as UCM took a 37-33 lead into the half.
• Things didn't start well in the second half for the Jennies who turned the ball over and a quick Lion layup made it a two-point game.
• They settled down though and scored six points in 49 seconds, capped off when Skaggs intercepted a pass, found a streaking Redmond who dished it to Fleming under the basket for a pretty two. Lindenwood called timeout and the Jennies pushed the lead to seven, 46-39.
• The Lions didn't quit and another scoring spurt, this time a 7-0 run, brought them to within just one, 51-50.
• The Jens closed the third scoring four straight, taking a 55-50 lead into the final frame. Peyton Taylor got into the lane and kissed one off the glass with just two seconds left for the final points in the period.
• Lindenwood was hanging around in the fourth as the teams were trading baskets, but with 4:31 left, Fleming had time to set and nailed a three as UCM went back up 10, 69-59.
• One possession later, Morgan VanHyfte's airball fell safely into the arms of Fleming under the basket who put back a layup to beat the shot clock and the Jens were on their way to their fifth straight win.

It Was Over When...
• Morgan Fleming's three with under five minutes left to play gave the Jennies a 10 point lead, 79-69. They led by double-figures the rest of the way, cruising to a 76-66 win.
