WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 11, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Soccer and Head Coach
Lewis Theobald are proud to announce 10 new additions to their program for the 2019 season.
"We are excited to welcome another excellent class to our program", said coach Theobald. "This is a group of dedicated student-athletes who will impact our program immediately. We look forward to welcoming them and their families to UCM."

Kassie Newsom
Lee's Summit, Mo. / Lee's Summit West HS / St. Louis University
Clubs: Sporting Lee's Summit Pink Panthers - Coach Tim Richardson
Sporting Blue Valley - Coach Doug McLagan
A prolific goal scorer for Coach Shaun Owens and Lee's Summit West High School, Newsom scored 66 goals while adding 41 assists in high school. She was the Missouri 4A Player of the Year as a senior and made the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team. Well decorated throughout high school, Newsom was a four-time All-District and All-Conference pick while also being a two-time First Team All-State selection. She helped Lee's Summit West to two district championships and a second and third place finish at state in her career. She spent the first year of her college career playing at St. Louis University where the Billikens won the Atlantic-10 Tournament and were 10-0 in the A-10 Regular Season. Prior to her collegiate career, Newsom won four Missouri State Cup Championships on her club teams, Sporting LS Pink Panthers and Sporting BV ECNL/Showcase. She was the 2016 USYS National League "Golden Boot" winner and a "Best 11" selection at the 2015 national tournament.
Theobald on Newsom: "Kassie was a highly recruited player and we are very fortunate to have her as a part of our program. She is a very complete forward who will bring a dynamic edge to our attack. Kassie is also a natural leader who will make an impact on our team culture as well."
Carsyn Overin
Greenwood, Mo. / Lee's Summit West High School
Club: Sporting Lee's Summit Pink Panthers - Coach Tim Richardson
Another product of Lee's Summit West High School and Coach Shaun Owens, Overin was a four-year member of the team, winning two district championships and taking a second and third place finish at states. Overin took home plenty of award in her career, and as a senior made the All-State team, was the Regional co-Defender of the Year, made the All-Region and All-Conference Team. She played her club ball with the Sport Lee's Summit Pink Panthers.
Theobald on Overin: "Carsyn is someone we watched in high school and played with one of the top club teams in the Kansas City area. She has a presence on the field is very good in possession. She fits our style of play, and she versatile enough to play multiple positions."
Shyanne Best
Shawnee, Kan. / Mill Valley High School
Club: Sporting Blue Valley 00 - Coach Shawn Forcellini
A three-year starter and team captain for Coach Arlan Vomhof at Mill Valley High School, Best earned an EKL All-Conference award. She helped the Jaguars to a second-place finish at states in 2017 and a fourth place finish as a freshman.
Theobald on Best: "Shyanne has shown the ability to play multiple positions on the field and is comfortable in different roles. Most recently, she has shown the ability to be a strong central defender. Shyanne's versality is an asset as we move forward."
Lindsay Edmonds
Overland Park, Kan. / Shawnee Mission West High School
Club: KC Blaze Blue Angels Academy - Coach Ben Popoola
Edmonds played four years of high school soccer in the Shawnee Mission district. She started by playing two years at Shawnee Mission North before moving to Shawnee Mission West to play as a junior and senior. As a Junior, Edmonds helped Shawnee Mission West to a Sunflower League and Regional Championship.
Theobald on Edmonds: "We saw Lindsay early in recruiting and immediately made her a priority for our program. Lindsay has been a dominant central defender for her club team. She has a great mix of athleticism, technical ability and work ethic."
Cassie Forcellini
Olathe, Kan. / Blue Valley Southwest High School
Club: Sporting Blue Valley Showcase 00 - Coach Shawn Forcellini
Forcellini helped Blue Valley Southwest and Coaches Jason Pendleton and Eric Jones to back-to-back state championships in 2017 and 2018 as well as three-straight regional championships from 2016-2018. Individually, Forcellini is a two-time All-State and All-EKL selection.
Theobald on Forcellini: "Cassie is an outstanding central midfield player and will bring a presence to our team. She played club soccer for her Dad and understands the game like a coach's child. Cassie is competitive, strong and smart on the soccer field. She has all the attributes that we need to be successful."
Emily Kramer
Leawood, Kan. / Blue Valley North High School
Club: Sporting Blue Valley Showcase 00 - Coach Shawn Forcellini
Kramer played all over the field for coach Tim Wiseman and Blue Valley North High School. She played four years amassing 11 goals and 17 assists as a midfielder and a defender for the Mustangs. She's a two-time All-Eastern Kansas League performer with a state runner-up and two regional championships. Playing club soccer, Kramer led her team to three Region II Championships and won two State Championships.
Theobald on Kramer: "Emily is a versatile player that we recruited to play in our backline, but since that time has shown an ability to make an impact in the attack. Emily is athletic, quick and good on the ball. We are excited to get her on campus in our training sessions."
Katelyn Poertner
Blue Springs, Mo. / Blue Springs South High School
Club: Sporting Valley Development Academy - Coach Adam Lamb
A proven winner with three straight state championships, Katelyn Poertner helped build a dynasty for Blue Springs South HS. In total numbers, her best year came as a sophomore when she scored six goals with eight assists, but she is capable of being productive all over the field. She is an All-Conference selection and spent the last two years at the Development Academy for Sporting Blue Valley.
Theobald on Poertner: "Katelyn is a resilient person, and with her natural ability on the ball she coupled with her experience of playing in the US Soccer Development Academy, we anticipate her making a big impact on our program. Katelyn will be an attacking player for us next season."
Madi Poertner
Blue Springs, Mo. / Blue Springs South High School
Club: Sporting Valley Development Academy - Coach Adam Lamb
Joining Katelyn on the Jennies next year will be her twin sister, Madi Poertner. Like Katelyn, Madi is an All-Conference selection for Blue Springs South with three state cup championships and four appearances. Poertner spent the last two seasons playing for the Development Academy for Sporting Blue Valley.
Theobald on Poertner: "Madison is a very exciting player for us to have in our program. Madison has competed against some of the best players in the country and proven she is one of the elite players. Madison can play nearly every position on the field and we are excited to get her here and have her in training with us."
Macy Ruffalo
Olathe, Kan. / Blue Valley Southwest High School
Club: Sporting Valley Showcase 01 - Coach Richard Davies
The second-leading goal-scorer for Jason Pendleton, Eric Jones and Blue Valley Southwest, Macy Ruffalo is a gifted, multi-sport athlete. On the soccer field, Ruffalo is a two-time All-State selection and First Team All-Kansas League where she helped Blue Valley to three-straight regional and back-to-back state championships. She was also a member of the Sporting Blue Valley Soccer Club. In addition to soccer, Ruffalo also was on the track and gymnastics team. In 2017 she was ninth at state in the 100m dash and was on the 4x100m relay team that took 15
th in the US in the Junior Olympics. Ruffalo is also US Gymnastics Level 9. She is a state champion in the vault and bars and was a Disney Showcase Champion in 2016-17.
Theobald on Ruffalo: "We only needed to see Macy play once to know that we wanted her to be a part of UCM soccer. Then when Macy visited we were convinced she would be a great addition to our program. Macy is a quick, fast, dynamic forward who can finish. Macy has won at every level and will bring that mentality to our team."
Karli Schnakenberg
Independence, Mo. / Van Horn High School
Club: KC Athletics - Coach Vasil Ristov
Schnakenberg broke all sorts of scoring records at Van Horn High School in Independence, Mo. while playing for Coach Matt Tracy. She is the school record holder for both career and single-season goals after netting 43 in a single season. Schnakenberg is a First Team All-District and All-Conference selection. She also played KC Athletics Club team and was a four-time state champion and a national runner-up in 2017. While at Van Horn, Schnakenberg was a three-time state qualifier in cross country and an All-Conference Basketball selection.
Theobald on Schnakenberg: "Karli is a dynamic, athletic and smart attacking player. She is an attacking central midfield player but could easily contribute to our front line or in a defensive midfield role. Karli has won at every level and is someone we anticipate will leave her mark at UCM."
