WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Nov. 22, 2019) - Central Missouri Soccer defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State 4-1 in the first round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The Jennies advance to Sunday's second-round match where they will face No. 3 seed Concordia-St. Paul.
How it Happened:
• The Bulldogs were the first to score as Brenna McGuirk found Micaela Swain in the 15th minute.
• Ten minutes later,
Kassie Newsom was fouled inside SWOSU's box to award the Jens a penalty kick in the 25th minute. 2019 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year scored the penalty kick to tie the match 1-1.
• Another Bulldog foul gave the Jennies their second scoring opportunity in the 32nd minute. A free kick from Lindsey Edmonds was finished by
Makayla Martin to gain UCM a 2-1 advantage.
• It was all Central Missouri in the second-half as
Emily Kramer scored in the 58th minute off a deflection by the Bulldogs keeper.
• The Jens final goal against SWOSU came in the 66th minute as Kramer scored her second goal of the match, this time getting her head on a corner kick from
Haley Freeman.
• Central Missouri out shot the Bulldogs 17-11 and dominated the corner kick battle 9-1.
Leading the Jennies:
• Freshman Kramer lead the UCM offense with two goals against the Bulldogs. The goals were the starting defender's first of her career.
• Senior defender Gann put the Jens on the board with the game-tying goal. The goal was also Gann's first in her career with the Jennies.
• Martin's goal to give UCM the lead in the first-half was her second of the season and the fourth in her career.
• Freeman and Edmonds each recorded an assist. Freeman now has nine assists on the season.

Macy Ruffalo lead the Jens attack with five shots, followed by Newsom with four.

Lindsey Johnson recorded four saves in goal.
For the Bulldogs:
• Swain lead SWOSU with their only goal of the match in the 15th minute.
• McGuirk recorded the Bulldogs lone assist.
• Sandra Nabweteme lead the SWOSU attack with four shots, two of which were on goal.
• Bulldogs keeper Kirstyn Dill recorded five saves in the goal while allowed four.
News & Notes:
• With a first-round loss, SWOSU ends their season with a final record of 13-5-3.
• Earlier in the day, No. 3 seed Concordia-St. Paul defeated No. 6 seed Northeastern State in a 3-1 penalty kick shootout on Jennies Field.
• Central Missouri continues to lead the all-time series against SWOSU 8-0.
• The Jennies post a record of 17-8-3 while competing in the NCAA tournament.
