WARRENSBURG, MO. (Jan. 20, 2019)-- Mules Wrestling had a busy Sunday hosting the Roger Denker Open earlier today with 11 Mules on the mat. Among the 11, the Mules had six placewinners:
Dominique Hampton (2nd),
Martin Brunnert (3rd),
Erick Vargas (4th),
John Feeney (5th),
Chase Miller (6th),
Justin Mitchell (6th)
Dominique Hampton was the Mules top-finisher placing second at 184-pounds and scoring 7.0 team points. Hampton picked up two wins on the day defeating Tanner Vermaas (Grand View)by decision 4-1, and
Martin Brunnert (UCM) by decision 3-1. Hampton fell in his final match of the day against Cordel Duhart (University of Missouri - Columbia) by decision 10-4.
Martin Brunnert battled at 184-pounds to place third overall. Brunnert lost his first match by fall at 1:33 against Cordel Duhart (University of Missouri - Columbia) and his second to teammate
Dominique Hampton by decision 3-1.
Erick Vargas was back on that mat today at 125-pounds finishing fourth and scoring 7.5 pounds. Vargas went 1-2 on the day picking up one win against teammate
Justin Mitchell by decision 8-4.
John Feeney was the Mules top-scorer with 10.0 points on the day, placing fifth at 133-pounds. Feeney picked up a win by major decision 8-0 against Dequarius Millett (Missouri Valley).
Mules are back on the mat Wednesday, January 23 in Springfield to go head to head with McKendree.
